Connect Students and Facilities
Many problems we identified through our interviews stem from a lack of clear, easy ways for students and staff to communicate. The willingness to help is there, but neither party has much success in communicating their wants and needs. Thus, it was our goal to help connect students and staff, specifically the Facilities Department. With better communications, problems can be solved faster and easier, everyone will be happier, and Olin will run much more smoothly.
Co-Curricular
Our main focus in this area was to develop a co-curricular in which students learn about the school's inner workings. To this end, we laid out some content for lessons. The co-curricular runs weekly to balance not consuming all free time of participants while still covering as much material as possible, leaving the students with a solid understanding and appreciation of the effort it takes to run the college smoothly. However, to accommodate the increase in pressure and stress as the semester wears on, the co-curricular will be front-heavy, tapering off as the workload increases. Sessions include a plant tour, an introduction to the software used to monitor building conditions, an overview of energy acquisition and management, discussions of improving operations, and more.
